The main reason I am making a new post this morning is because I want to get the blogger adware software to put up a new advertisement. So, two days ago I started the infamous "Atkins" diet. What a joke! This diet might sound good on the face of it, eat all the meat you want, but limit yourself to only 20 grams of carbs and no alcohol. So, the theory of Atkins goes like this. Your body stores enough carbohydrate energy for 48 hours, as glucose. After two days it is starved for that kind of energy, even though you could still be eating a high calorie, high fat content, diet of steaks and eggs. However, once your body decides to start burning fat for glucose the cravings are intense. Eating a 16oz steak doesn't even touch these cravings.

I might try the Atkins thing again, but it is insanely hard to do. In the past, using conventional dieting methods, you could snack on low fat, low calorie, high fiber food items to your hearts content. Fruits, vegtables, popcorn and pretzels. On Atkins it's meat, or meat, or meat. It is not a pleasant dieting experience and with beer and wine off limits (even though they can be low carb) it's even more of a challenge. The low-carb restriction is so severe that eating just one slice of bread would put you over your daily allotment.

The Atkins diet does work, no doubt about that, but at what cost? I would prefer not to be a fat alcoholic, but maybe that's what the Universe has destined for me? Time will tell.

P.S. Let's see how many blogger placed ads I get for Atkins crap in a day or two.
