I bought a new TV today. Ok, maybe I didn't actually 'buy' it, that remains to be seen. My old projection TV, six years old, is still holding up fairly well. It's a 55" diagonal Toshiba that is nice and bright and easy to use. However, it ain't HDTV and if you haven't seen the inside of an "Ultimate Electronics" store lately you will be blown away by the advances in TV technology. The TV I am getting is a Mitsubish 73" widescreen HDTV model!! The manufacturer is offering a financing option where you make no payments, no money down, and no interest, for 16 months! You don't have to pay for the TV till January of 2005!?? This is no scam, this is for real. So, December of 2004, you just send them a check for the cost of the TV, drawn against savings, home-equity loan, or whatever you wish at that time. However, for 16months you enjoy and use the TV without paying one single dime. That is simply amazing. So, what the heck, I
So when is Brooce going to add a comments section to his web log? He's like a voice in the wilderness right now.

Well, I'm giving the Atkins thing another shot. Right now the main issue is simply giving up alcohol and diet soda. You are supposed to give up all caffiene, including coffee, but that's just too much. I'm going to limit myself to 2 cups of coffee in the morning and that's it. Tonight I was taken out to dinnner at Dierdorf and Harts. Had a nice safe Atkins meal of ceaser salad (no croutons), filet mignon, and a bit of cottage cheese. So far so good, let's see how it goes. Just noticed, it's been 2 days and now all of my blogger ads are for Atkins or low-carb crap. I feel like I can influence the whole web!
The main reason I am making a new post this morning is because I want to get the blogger adware software to put up a new advertisement. So, two days ago I started the infamous "Atkins" diet. What a joke! This diet might sound good on the face of it, eat all the meat you want, but limit yourself to only 20 grams of carbs and no alcohol. So, the theory of Atkins goes like this. Your body stores enough carbohydrate energy for 48 hours, as glucose. After two days it is starved for that kind of energy, even though you could still be eating a high calorie, high fat content, diet of steaks and eggs. However, once your body decides to start burning fat for glucose the cravings are intense. Eating a 16oz steak doesn't even touch these cravings. I might try the Atkins thing again, but it is insanely hard to do. In the past, using conventional dieting methods, you could snack on low fat, low calorie, high fiber food items to your hearts content. Fruits, vegtables, popco
I know, I'm totally lame, I didn't go to the Ethical Society today. Instead we had a pool party with friends and family. I promise I'll go sometime though. We hosted the Saturday Night Screeening Room movie showing on Saturday night where we showed "The Court Jester" outside around the pool. It was a very successul showing and was well received. We also had David Metzener over for his birthday that evening as well. Dave came with his wife Chris and also our friend Greg showed up with his cutie kid Christopher. The vacation is over and tomorrow it's back to work. I will update as I can.
As a matter of principle I intend to attend an atheist Church service on Sunday. They have been advertising extensively in the paper and I feel morally obligated to attend to show my support (even though, normally, I prefer to just go fishing on a Sunday morning). This 'atheist' church calls itself "The Ethical Society" . Their goal is to create a service that provides the same sense of community of a conventional Church but with none of the dogma. They support many of the supposedly Christian concepts of good works and moral behaviour. We should all, of course, love one another and do things that benefit society. This is often referred to as secular humanism, an ideology where the point of moral and ethical behaviour is to benefit humanity as a whole. I have no problem with that. To be honest, I can't see how anybody would have a problem with that. I attended a service of "The Ethical Society" about 20 years ago when I was maybe 22 years
I'm back from my Florida vacation. I'll try to make a few posts about it this week. I would like to include a brief 'review' of Universal Studios and Bush Gardens attractions so anyone considering going can benefit from my sage advice. Don't forget, "The Court Jester" is being shown this Saturday at my home.
There won't be any updates to this website for a while. We are heading out of town early in the morning. See you all when I get back. I re-ordered some of the links on my sidebar. I will try to make them look a lot nicer when I get back.
