Iphone Photographs : Sucky but better than nothing at all
(The final score between Troy Chapter and Kirkwood)
The Iphone has a pretty crappy camera that takes pretty crappy pictures but, I suppose, it is better than having no camera at all. Here are some recent photographs I found on my camera today.
This first photograph shows the final score between Troy Chapter and Kirkwood Chapter after their first meeting in the DeMolay basketball tournament sponsored by the Moolah Shrine and hosted at their facility.
Troy DeMolay has always had a number of members who were quite athletic but, being a small chapter, we always had an uphill battle in competitions. Kirkwood Chapter has so many members that they would show up to conclave and be able to host not just a first and second string but often times a third string of players for flag football, volleyball, and basketball. Two years ago Troy Chapter made it all of the way to the finals of the flag football competition at conclave and took Kirkwood Chapter to two over-times before we unfortunatly lost.
This past year we had a new member join, Anthony, and he has been really enthusiastic about DeMolay. In the past few months he has gotten a number of his friends to join and, today, many of the members of the Troy High School basketball team are now also members of Troy DeMolay. This past Sunday it was quite something to watch the game. Both teams showed excellent sportsmanship and the game was well managed by the referrees and coaches. For over half the game we fielded not just our best athletes but also our youngest and smallest members as well; everyone got a chance to play even our current Master Councilor J.B. Schroeter who has some difficulty running due to numerous surgies on his legs over the years (at the Shriners Hospital).
At first I was concerned a little bit that our new members were only joining because of the athletic competition but, it turns out, I needn't have been concerned. Already two of the new members have turned in their obligation and they have all been participating in ritual practice.
I suspect we are going to have a very successful conclave this year!
Just a few more days of work and Terry, Alex, and I are heading off to Cancun, Mexico for our weeklong spring break vacation. I plan to have plenty of photographs to post when I return from that trip!
