Appetizers for the Soul



Ever since the 'metaphysical' discussion group I was in dissolved I have really been missing it. It was such a great group of people and everyone provided so much support. I have theories as to why the group dissolved, and mostly I believe it is because we didn't have a fixed date for a meeting each month nor did we have a specific social agenda.

I also feel like the label 'metaphysical' made it seem a bit to restrictive and we quickly found that even those who share metaphysical beliefs vary quite widely in their personal expression of them.

This time I am focusing exclusively on the social aspect of the evening, sharing food and drink in a safe and relaxing setting. I have already heard from a few of the old members that they are anxious to get a new group started again.

I will have to report how things go after the first meeting.

This post is a reprint of a rant. Actually, what I was originally planning to do was to write a brand new lemon freshened rant. However, as I began, I remembered that I had already ranted on this topic ten years ago. I did a quick search on the Internet and, sure enough, there was my old rant just sitting there waiting to be resurrected. I used to be interested in UFOs, heck, I guess I still am. That is, if the UFOs would ever do anything interesting. But, really, they don't. And now with the kind of advanced video editing software and photo-imaging tools available it is literally impossible to ever know if anything is 'real' or 'fake' any more. The best you can do is either (A) see a UFO for yourself or (B) believe somebody who tells you a UFO story. That's about all there is to it. Ten Reasons *NOT* to become a Freemason

"Why I became (and proudly remain) an 'antient' Freemason" Well, I see no reason I cannot make a Freemason themed post. Last evening I attended a third degree at Naphtali lodge. It was my candidate being raised, my friend William Bean. It was an incredible night, especially since we had 28 Master Masons present for the event which was held at the incredible Masonic Temple in midtown Saint Louis. My friends Right Worshipful Brother Chris Neubold, Russ Tinker, Densel Webb, and Fred Statler drove down all of the way from Wentzville and Troy; over an hour drive each way. I acted as the Senior Steward and Junior Deacon for the ceremony. This was the largest gathering of Masons we have had in as long as anyone could remember for a degree. It is so very gratifying to see Naphtali growing and area members supporting the lodge.
